Our commitment at Al Waha Language School is to provide a safe and intellectually challenging environment that will empower students to become innovative thinkers, creative problem solvers and inspired learners prepared to thrive in the twenty-first century.

 

High standards and expectations for each student in regard to academic performance, co-curricular participation and responsible citizenship are the foundation of our school. It is with pride that we hold these high standards and ask each of our students to commit to maintaining the extraordinary record of achievement and contribution that has been the legacy of Al Waha School students. It is the contribution of our students to our school community that makes Al Waha School an exceptional learning community. Full participation in academic and co-curricular programs and a willingness to act responsibly as an individual within our educational environment are the factors that enable all to have a successful and enjoyable year.

GENERAL PROVISIONS

Al Waha students are expected to behave in a respectful manner at all times.  Students should learn and strive to consistently apply the Al Waha honor code:

As a Guardian of the Legacy, I promise to serve my community and myself with honesty, respect and empathy.

All Al Waha students must adhere to the following guidelines for citizenship and behavior:

1   All members of the Al Waha community must treat each other with respect and consideration.

2    Every member of the Al Waha community must respect and protect the property of other individuals and / or the school.

3    Disruptive, discourteous and unethical behavior is not acceptable. Every student has the right to learn, and every teacher has the right to teach without being disrupted,             distracted or treated with disrespect.

4   Socially aggressive behaviors are unacceptable. Social aggression is a form of bullying and teasing. Social aggression include behaviors that damage relationships with peers such as spreading rumors, deliberately excluding someone from the group, or making fun of another individual by teasing, or through physical gestures.

5    Physical aggression will not be tolerated. Al Waha International Language School expects high standards of responsibility and civility. Physical aggression of any kind will not be tolerated.

6    Appropriate language is expected. Profane or derogatory language is considered    inappropriate and unacceptable for school and common spaces.

All Al Waha students must follow these guidelines. Students who do not adhere to these guidelines will face appropriate consequences on a case-by-case basis commensurate with age and severity of their actions.

AL- WAHA Language School recognizes that each student is an individual; that all students are creative; that all students need to succeed.Therefore, AL- WAHA Language School respects the individual needs of students; fosters a caring and creative environment; and emphasizes the social, emotional, physical, intellectual development of each student.

Our vision is that our students leave school with:

Facilities

LOCATION AND FACILITIES

The Mokattam community, in which the school is located, is in the mountainous area in Cairo and borders on a quaint older community which has seen much new development within the past 5 years. The striking contrast of this location which is at a higher elevation from the city itself provides a stimulating and unique glimpse of the nature and culture of the traditional and modern developing aspects of Egypt.

 

The school is an extension of the Al WAHA National School. Al WAHA National School was built and first occupied in September, 1995.  The American Division began in 2005 and occupies a wing of the north building. It has 4 floors of a 5 story facility with 7 classrooms dedicated to the American Division. The classrooms are adequate accommodations for the student population with room for further expansion on the 5th floor level of the building.  The building has a capacity for 350 students with 25 per class.

 

The library/media room and administrative offices are also located in the north building on the 3rd level (Floor 4) . The American Division shares a common reception area on the ground floor with access to the playground area. Additional recreational areas such as the basketball/volleyball courts, soccer fields, swimming pool, and gardens are adjacent to the National school and shared mutually.

 

KG classrooms are on the 1st level (Floor 2); elementary classrooms are on the 2nd  level (Floor 3 ); Middle and High classrooms are on the 3rd  level (Floor 4 ); the nurse’s station is on the 1st level; and teachers’ lounges are on the 3rd level. On the 1st level, are 2 computer labs the 2nd level houses the science labs. A physical education gym is available for the students and is located below ground level.
